Viridescent no. 01 ©2016

New series Viridescent sort of spontaneously birthed itself out of the Digital Debris practice. More4 focused on impressionisti, painterly manipulated portatuer than the repatitive pop art style of debris' fractured glitches.  It's yet another exploration of the way technology interfaces with expression.  Memory has always been best represented as a disolve to me, an inkblot bleeding at the edges of perception and conciousness.  A little nightmarish, a little sexy, a queasy green feeling of fear and envy.

 Frames is a 2015 series of video stills created in relation to my work in erotica and artporn. Re-imagining the imagery filtered through glitch-based software and removed from their context the new images represent a frozen moment of intimacy in our digital landscape.

I like to think of this kaleidoscopic mediation designed for somnambulism as less "music video" and more a visual aid. For the full effect I'm planning a gallery installation of the projection to go with the ambient composition.  Like much of my work aesthetic this aims to be surreal, dreamy, and sensual without the graphic hardcore quality that are exemplified by other works in my catalog.  somnambulism as a recording is available through my label Le Garçon Sale Records.

"The following film is almost entirely a work of fiction. Almost"  So begins Spark's final unspooling (actually films really unspool these days but still) The story of a self obsessed artist who's attention seeking suicide attempt forces him to refocus on life. Where to start? In the Beginning... In seeking his loved one's forgiveness for his downward spiral he contemplates the very nature of his existential crisis: from the big bang through his own conception, to the afterlife, and back to bathtub in Paris and the cold light of day.  It's an explicit, eccentric, obsessive and elegiac story of the struggle to forgive one's self.

My side/solo project Boarding School recently released a record Mute Songs Vol. 01   . One track "93 Nights" also appears on the soundtrack to my long gestating up coming feature film directorial debut "Spark", an artporn drama set between Paris and Portland, OR.  The video for "93 Nights" , a sort of abstracted travelog of DNA, in utero voyeurism and Parisian cityscape also serves as a sneak peek at some of the films less graphic moments and sets its tone..

No time in recent memory has been as fruitful or busy as October 2013 for me.  On October 1st my band Mattachine Social released "Close" a new ep of trip-hop tinged songs culled from our session recording in Seattle with Jesse Holt at Remixlab. Invoking the work of Derek Jarman by way of Kenneth Anger the dreamlike "The Garden of His Delights" is an abstracted meditation on male beauty. The title inspired from the biblical book of Isaiah the film combines in a Mapplethorpe like manner the graceful beauty of flowers blooming in time-lapse photography with the raw sexuality of underground sex clubs. watch after the jump

Reminiscence is a companion short art-porn film piece meant to serve as  a teaser for the feature film
Spark, featuring many of the cast members of Spark and set to an original  score by A is for Accident. It also serves as a nice recap of 2011 and the globe trotting film production that has encompassed our lives here at Time-Out Films.   It's a tad morose, a little dreary, and a whole lot smutty.
